After a long-time of searching and disappointment, I found a job, ya (?) If considered how desperate I was before, I shall be satisfied with the fact that I finally found something regardless what I got. However, never content with what you got is the human nature. Therefore, I somehow feel bitterness about what I have is a waitress in a Chinese restaurant. (As I said to my dear flatmate that, it seems that every Chinese got their first job in a Chinese restaurant.)

Although I did not show too much enthusiasm when talking about my job with other people, it does not mean that I am not grateful and have so much to complain. I do feel exciting about try a new thing, and happy about the time of working and the environment. My lack of expressive passion probably is only because, for me, it is JUST a job. So far, I am doing OK. Messed up few times, still feel nervous when I picking up the phone, and panicking from time to time. But in general, I am still hired.

The whole thing happened quite quickly, unexpected quickly. To be honest, I do feel confident about getting the job before going in, for the reason stated above: every Chinese got their first job in a Chinese restaurant. You can actually write a proposal about how ethnicity influence the type of job a person gets. Anyway, I went to inquire about the position on a Thursday afternoon and, guess what, I got the call from the boss the very same night to ask me to come in next day. No CV, no ‘interview’, no any hassles that you will encounter when applying in a British jobs. It is as simple as that, going in, have a chat, then you got it.

I got few experiences as a waitress before, all quite long time ago. One was at the university food court; the other was at my aunt’s café in USA. Nevertheless, this time it is much more different, from many perspectives. Maybe I shouldn’t call it as a waitress, since there was not much to do with the serving. A ‘receptionist’ maybe seems to be more appropriate. Most of the time, I am processing phone and internet orders, as well as take away. People rarely eat in, which is a advantage, because it makes the job simpler.
